ERMP accepts NASA and JPL Project

On June 04, 2006, Executive Producer Anthony Dowling announced Eno River Media Production accepts a project proposed by NASA and JPL.  Project described below:

NASA/JPL Project
Preface

From the Apollo landings on the Moon, to robotic surveys of the Sun and the planets, to the compelling images captured by advanced space telescopes, achievements in space have revolutionized humanity's view of the universe and have inspired people around the world.

These achievements also have led to the development of technologies that have widespread applications to address problems on Earth.

In preparation for future human exploration, we must advance our ability to live and work safely in space and, at the same time, develop the technologies to extend humanity's reach to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.

Our Project

ERMP strives to ultimately inspire teens to seek out science and technical vocations appropriate for the exploration of space, creating a golden era for space adventure and discovery.

ERMP has set a goal to assist our nation's youth in recapturing that sense of space travel excitement through humanity,s timeless art of music!  NASA and the staff of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory will use our creations in its educational programs.  We have been asked to produce music videos that are "cool and edgy" to attract a young teen audience.

ERMP will attract local bands to write songs about elements of our solar system.  Each song should relay images and facts about each heavenly body so young adults will enjoy the song, learn the words and in the process, concepts about the planet or solar body. The plan is simple.  ERMP will assign a planet or other astronomical feature to a volunteering band. The band will write a song with some facts about the heavenly body contained within the lyrics.

Once accepted, the band will practice the song and once confident with their performance ERMP will slate a night to host the bands at the Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh, NC where they will perform their songs.

The ERMP Barchord's camera crew will tape the event.  The tapes will be edited and space footage and graphics will be added to emphasize the imagery of the lyrics.

When completed, the product will be reviewed by the parties participating and then sent to JPL/NASA for their use in educational programs in schools, NASA mobile exhibits and presentations, performed on NASA TV cablecast nationwide, National Space Day at the Smithsonian's new Air and Space museum in D.C., and possibly as part of a permanent display at the Kennedy Space Center.  We also plan to send the video to film festivals and market it to educational institutions.

Adam Tate New Deputy Director of Eno Shorts Division

On June 04, 2006, Adam Tate accepted the position of Deputy Director of Eno Short Division, the movie production department responsible for producing movies between 1 and 20 minutes in length.  Adam will be responsible for directing and coordinating all short shoots produced by Eno River Media Production.  Adam is stepping into fill Kris Bain,s departure to school in Winston Salem ^ UNC School of Arts.

Adam Tate was born amidst a hospital fire in Atlanta, Georgia, somewhere in the neighborhood of 1982. Growing up in Athens, Georgia, Adam was influenced by his  father, a two-time Emmy nominated lighting director.  His parents invoked a worldly regiment of classical cinema and opera instead of Sesame street and the Muppets. Unfortunately to this day, Adam can not name the green trashcan dwelling creature or any of Mr. Rogers, odd train-driving friends. However, he can relay the story of Siegfried and Brunhilde,s battles over the Ring of the Nebiellung and say the alphabet backwards.

Adam attended the University of Georgia as a drama major for two years before moving to Savannah, Georgia to learn the ways of the world and the deadly art of filmmaking via an apprenticeship to a local filmmaker, working on several commercials and documentaries.

"Adam, what was your greatest achievement while working in the industry in Savannah?" you may ask,  "Once we were doing an infomercial about the Rascal electric scooter, and I got to drive the scooter around downtown Savannah. It was excellent." Retreating from the crime infested-tourist wasteland of the Georgia coast, he moved to Raleigh, North Carolina to attend the School of Communication Arts, where he earned a best short drama award for his film Fragile, and diploma in Digital filmmaking in 2005.

As a volunteer joining the ranks of ERMP in January, 2006.

The Films of 2005 in Review By Mike Willden

2005 will go down in history as one of the worst money making years for the motion picture industry, and not for the lack of quality films, but for the overabundant amount of pure drivel that was released. In addition, I feel that the industry needs to be more careful about release dates. Even though March of the Penguins took advantage of a great marketing and release strategy, many other great films were drastically under-marketed and rushed into theaters, and in turn were sadly ignored.

The one thing I did notice this year, more then any other year, was the enormous amount of Documentaries that were theatrically released. Even though there was no Fahrenheit 9/11 to dominate the box office, Michael Moore paved the way for many other great films to be theatrically released, and reach numbers in the millions, which is impressive for any documentary. Traditionally Cable TV and PBS have been the major showcase for Documentary features, but Moore,s past success has really sky rocketed the interest in the market for wonderful documentary films to reach a theatrical audience. Because of this surge, and my undying love for documentaries, I have separated my best of films section this year into Documentary and non-Documentary films.

Once again, though, the independent industry skyrocketed with most of the best films this year being limited released, and many of the Academy and other Award's have recognized that Hollywood is lacking at putting out quality features. Instead of nominating big budget films, most of the award winners and nominees have been smaller films. Hopefully this will lead to more independent features reaching wider releases and in return will lead to a better money year for 2006.
