Locally filmed drama "One Tree Hill" renewed for fifth season

WILMINGTON -- "One Tree Hill" producer David Hartley confirmed today that the filmed-in-Wilmington teen drama has been picked up for a fifth season on The CW. He said the network has asked for 22 episodes and that the show will begin shooting again on July 16.

That means more guaranteed employment for Hartley as well as the rest of the cast and crew.

Gaffer Terry O'Deen learned the good news while working on the Richard Gere film "Nights in Rodanthe" in the Outer Banks.

"It's great for the family, and it's great for the film industry," he said.

ERMP Profile of the Week:

Chandler Varavuk

Talent
Chandler was born on February 1, 1982 in Durham, NC. He graduated from Jordan High School in 2000 and then graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2004 BA in History, Minor in Dramatic Arts. Chandler is a recent graduate from NC Central law school.

Chandler has been an actor on various shows on UNC Student Television (2001-2004). He had a long  range of acting roles, anything from sketch comedy, to satire, to villain, and serious drama.  He has acted in over 15  different episodes with these various shows.

Chandler is on the Board of Directors for the UNC Student Television (2001-2004). He is a special guest on The Special Hour hosted by Paul Hardin on WCHL 1360. This was a one hour radio program which focused solely on my life and times in volunteerism (2002). Chandler has been a Business Manager for UNC Student Television (2002-2003). This job involved keeping the budget that the organization had from  student activity fees, which involved making key purchases and decisions as to events that we would host with our $25,000 per semester budget.

Chandler has been a Producer for UNC Student Television Feedback Live Show  (2002-2004).   Also as host of this weekly one-hour live talk and news show, Chandler put out over 20 episodes a year of original content which included taped and edited segments, video bumpers and lead-ins, interviewing students on the street, and live discussion of the news with debate and banter.

Through doing all this, I garnered a greater proficiency in using the Final Cut Pro editing  system, as well as putting together a studio show, from the lighting to the  tripods, to the video switcher, graphics generator, and sound board.

He has been a voice talent for various Public Service Announcements which aired on WCHL 1360 from 2002 to 2004. In the indie movie, Key Lime Pie (2003) Chandler acted in this independent film and had the role of the Talent Agent. In 27 Seconds (2006), Chandler acted in this independent film, this time playing the Assistant to the Executive Producer.

Chandler stated "I really want to make my mark in the local film  and television industry, and essentially put NC on the map nationwide as a great place to make quality independent films. I want to facilitate this by lobbying for the NC Film Commission through the Governor and other state politicians. I also would love to hone my acting skills in various local productions, as well as get involved in ERMP's wrestling fed as either a wrestler, or as voice talent as an announcer."

As a volunteer joining the ranks of ERMP in July, 2006, Chandler will be contributing primarily as a Talent.

Audition Workshop
CSA Casting Director Catrine McGregor is holding another audition workshop in Greensboro NC on June 16th (part 1)
And in Greensboro NC on June 23rd (part 2)

Many of you remember Catrine when she came and spoke with us at CAAN last fall. She really knows her stuff and includes and involves her students in the learning process.

I've attended her workshops and learned so much stuff I was able to apply immediately. If you haven't heard her yet, you owe it to your business to block out these dates and go.

PS. She regularly charges $250 across the US for each of her workshops and is offering them both at a severely reduced fee of $125 each...a real bargain.
